“Books are the key to your imagination.” Raise your hand if you have heard this saying before. I am willing to bet your hand is raised high in the air!   

The truth is, reading is SO important. Studies have shown that you should begin reading to babies while they are in the womb of their mother. Once born, you should continue to read to them to help build their vocabulary, curiosity, and love for reading. 

You know reading is important, but what the heck do you do next? There are SO many books out there, how do you know which books are best?

This book is a classic and one of the best children’s books of all time for a reason! The story is fun, the illustrations are bright, and you can be interactive in your reading! Children can learn about colors, different foods, and days of the week. 

Hello World  

Looking to diversify your bookshelf? This is a must-have when it comes to books for toddlers. This book takes children throughout the world and teaches them how to say hello in 10 different languages! 

I Love You Forever 

Grab your tissues parents! You have been warned! This book is a great book to show a parent's love and just how much they love them.  This is a must-have on your book collection 

Parker Looks UP

This is another great book to diversify your bookshelf. This is an inspirational story that follows a little girl while she travels through a museum. She looks at many images of those who have made an impact in United States History and comes across Michelle Obama. This is a beautiful story that looks at the progress we have made as a nation. 

Counting Kisses

This book is adorable, allows you to show your love as a parent, and is interactive in the sense that you can practice counting with your child.  This is the perfect book to read right before bedtime

Where The Wild Things Are

This book is one of the best of all time and ranked number 4 for New York Public Library “Top Check Out Books of All Time.”  This book shows a little boy who dresses in a wolf suit and is sent to bed. Next thing you know, he is on an island where the wild things are. This book is a must have for toddlers with imaginations. Plus, the illustrations are amazing.

I LOVE this book! This is such an interactive book that asks children to push buttons, shake the books, and takes them on a magical journey. Not only will this book bring giggles to your story time, but you can also practice colors and commands with this book as well.    

Feminist Baby

Yet another great book to help you diversify your bookshelf! This book helps your toddler grow to be confident and courageous and engages kids to dismiss gender stereotypes. 

Everyone Poops

I must admit, when I first saw this book, I did not take it seriously; however, this is a great book for children of potty training age! This book is the perfect mix of fun and educational and a great way to bring up the conversation of potty training. 

Pout Pout Fish

Alright…I saved a personal favorite for last! Pout Pout fish is full of repetition, so it is easy for your children to learn the words and practice reading. On top of that, the illustrations are amazing and it was an entertaining book for me as an adult. I guess that is why it is named a “Time Magazine Top 10 Children’s Book of 2008”.
